Hello, my name is Robert Paul Gallegos, and I've been on a journey for (7) years of writing about my life experience(s) throughout (3) books, Asleep (Drifting) Book One, Asleep (Hypnotic Rhythm) Book Two, and Asleep (Awakening) Book Three. In 2015, I penned a few short stories about the crazy adventures I had experienced with my pals during my youth. But, unintentionally, the more I wrote, I started unearthing some harrowing memories of my childhood, which I thought were buried for good. You see, I was the byproduct of horrific and appalling child abuse at the hands of my mother.

As with most children who have suffered from abuse, they eventually act out those struggles in the form of violence, crime and develop addictions to drugs and alcohol, compromising their mental health. Yet, on the other hand, I was able to hold my grandmother and aunt Betty's love, who made various heroic attempts to protect me as a small boy. Eventually, I was inspired to write about these two opposing worlds and hoped that my experiences would show others peace is waiting beyond even those darkest moments.

In my current life, instead of lingering in resentment, I'm promoting an introspective approach that encourages survivors of child abuse and addiction to invest in their futures instead of wasting energy looking back at more challenging times. The Asleep Series showcases humor's power and uses positive influences as an anchor against negative energy. My Dear Grandmother Bennie and Aunt Betty's affection kept me optimistic! Thus, I hung on to my belief in the goodness of humans.
